My New Kitty Loves Yarn Too
I have a new cat named Schatzi. My BF rescued Schatzi, who had been prowling about his workplace scrounging for food the past two weeks. Schatzi is seen here assisting me with a striped hat in Mission Falls merino wool (the contrasting color is a silvery grey). As a beginning knitter, working in the round is not coming easily to me. I switched from double-points to 16" circulars, which keep me from somehow creating "ladders" at the four corners. I am going to make this hat if I die trying, dammit. I'll post a picture whenever it's finished. But then, I don't even want this hat. Furthermore, I don't know a soul who might want to have it either. In this steaming southeast Texas city, we don't worry about heat escaping from the tops of our heads; in fact, we encourage it. I offered it to my sister, who lives in Sacramento and often hits the slopes in Lake Tahoe, but it was rejected out of hand due to the apparently unacceptable side effect of "hat head."
Regardless of whether this hat is ever actually worn or is alternatively tucked into a back corner of one of my dresser drawers, I'm determined to finish it. Besides, it'll be good practice for when I begin my sock class.
